MTLEY CRE: New Audio Interview With MICK MARS Available
June 30, 2008Baltimore, Maryland's 98 Rock conducted an interview with MTLEY CRE guitarist Mick Mars on Tuesday, June 24. Download the 12-minute chat as an MP3 file at this location.
In a recent interview with Reuters.com, Mick Mars was asked if he thinks MTLEY can go another 20 years. "No," he replied. "No. Only because in 20 years I'll be 77. I don't want to be on tour when I'm 77. That's a bit too geezed-out to me. I'm always going to be playing. Always, always, always. I don't know how much I would be touring at that point, because I don't think I'm going to make a very pretty old man. (Laughs.) But I'll always be writing and always be playing and writing for other bands or writing for MTLEY and just putting out records, if nothing else."
MTLEY CRE recently revealed that they are trying to extricate themselves from a deal with MTV Films, a division of Paramount Pictures, to make a movie out of the band's best-selling 2001 memoir, "The Dirt". Although bassist Nikki Sixx said in an interview with Reuters that MTV has become "bogged down," Sixx told The Pulse of Radio that he's not bitter about the situation. "I'm not mad at MTV, I don't think the band's mad at MTV, we just need a partner, you know," he said. "And after 2005 and 2006 and how successful that was, and we have a brand new album out, it's just a bit ridiculous to not have partners that are pushing that movie should be on the street today."
A deal was first announced for the film version in 2006 but has since gone nowhere. Sixx told Reuters that MTV was "a channel that used to be hip and has now actually become unhip...They are not the right partner."
Neither MTV Films nor Paramount Pictures had any comment on the matter.
According to Hits Daily Double, MTLEY CRE's new album, "Saints of Los Angeles", is likely to debut in the Top Four on the Billboard album chart, with first-week sales expected in the range of 90,000 copies.
The disc was issued last Tuesday (June 24) and is the first all-new collection from the CRE since 2000's "New Tattoo".
The band's summer tour, Cre Fest, which also features BUCKCHERRY, PAPA ROACH and others, kicks off on July 1 in West Palm Beach, Florida.
